可先放干變速箱機油，卸下優盤，檢車殘油品種的雜質部分，在正常情況下，含有深褐色或褐色粉末為離合器片磨損，亮白色金屬粉末為油泵、單向離合器、齒輪機構磨損，從而進一步判斷車子的故障。

因車身底板形狀個位置的限制，直接從發動機后部拆下變速箱往往顯得空間不夠，可靠的辦法是連同發動機一同從車上吊下。

把自動變速箱拉離發動機時，應該沿著軸向拉動，克伴以繞軸線的順和反方向轉動，但不得上下左右擺動，以免損壞自動變速箱輸入軸與液力耦合器或變矩器連接比分的表面狀況與配合。

首先準備好工具及盛放各類零件的小盒子，在干凈平整的操作臺上進行解體，從前部油泵開始，從前至后，由外向里逐步進行，并做好記錄。

在拆卸的時候，一定要記住不能用撬棍和鐵器直接敲打，因自動變速箱殼體大多數用鋁合金鑄成，在拆卸液控閥體是防止上下閥體分離時滾珠、卡環等掉地，要準確記住正確位置，拆卸單向離合器要注意正確配裝方向，裝合時不能顛倒，零件拆卸后應用汽油洗凈，確保各元件的清潔。
